Coming soon to London and Manchester

No swiping. Just who's here, right now.

Encounter shows you the people around you at this very moment, and lets you say hello. Close the app and you've gone: nobody sees you while you're away.

Like walking into a room

  1. 1

    Step into your orbit

Open Encounter and you're in your orbit: whoever's nearby right now and would like to meet someone like you. The people you're most likely to get along with are closest to the middle.

  2. 2

    Say hello

Tap someone to see their photos, then say hello. You can only start a conversation with someone in your orbit, so everyone you meet is genuinely nearby.

  3. 3

    Make it count

Up to three hellos can wait for a reply at once. Hit it off? Swap numbers in the app to keep talking, with up to five people, after you've gone your separate ways.

Private by design

Meeting people nearby shouldn't mean telling the world where you are.

  • Nobody sees where you are

Just a rough distance, deliberately blurred. Your location is only used while the app is open, and it's deleted as soon as you leave.

  • Only you see your answers

Your interests and what you're looking for help arrange your orbit. Nobody else ever sees them, in any form.

  • No adverts, no tracking

We don't sell your information or show you adverts. Delete your account from the app at any time, and it's gone.

Safe from the first hello

Real people, nearby, behaving well. We've built it in from the start.

Tips for meeting safely

  • Every photo checked

Photos are checked before anyone sees them, and borderline ones are looked at by a person.

  • Block or report in a couple of taps

They're never told, and a real person reads every report.

  • Adults only

Your age is checked when you join. Encounter is for over-18s.
